Sitting here during the holidays
After an eventful year
I try to sit back and enjoy
The time spent with family.

Looking back on all the memories,
Laughs, tears, and the struggles -
Looking over at you and smiling;
For once my year has ended well.

But the reason as to my smiling?
Simply your company and knowing that
The upcoming years will be filled with
So much more emotions and memories.

So many others ask me questions about you;
Like why we're dating, and about the age,
The differences between us, along with
Other concerns I'm sure most think about.

Yet all I can really think about right now
Is what's going on at this very moment;
And I can't help but simply smile and sigh happily
The best thing about tonight?

It's the start of the rest of our life, together.
